Pure Water

Water comes in many forms and some are more beneficial than others.Tap water is typically pretty harmful. The tap water at my house contains so much chlorine that when you turn on the faucet you can smell it. I don’t use it for anything! I even filter my shower water!

Brita, Pur, and other pitcher filtered waters are minimally better. They take out some things. They definitely improve the taste of the water. But they do not get out all the chlorine and other toxic chemicals.

Distilled is actually “dead” and when you drink it, it pulls nutrients out of your body – not good. It is used sometimes as a short-term cleanse. But is not beneficial for long-term health.

Reverse Osmosis water goes through several processes and removes all chlorine, fluoride and other toxic chemicals added to water, or that exist there that shouldn’t. Or all the choices, this is the one I favor. Good filtration systems even include an ultraviolet light treatment at the end that kills harmful bacteria. It tastes great and makes fabulous tea (which I drink a lot of) and coffee (which I avoid).

Reverse Osmosis dispensing machines are found at most health food stores, many grocery stores, even Walmart and Lowes have the dispensers. You need a 1 to 5-gallon container to refill each time. I pay 30 cents per gallon.

It is best to get non-leaching plastic bottles or containers. There is a lot of controversies about which plastics are safe – if any. They should have a number inside a triangle made out of arrows (standing for recycling). The numbers most often listed as “safe” are 2, 4, and 5. Not everyone agrees.

This is what Wikipedia has to say about what reverse osmosis is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_osmosis
