Learn How to Make a Vision Board Online

It was over 40 years ago when I created my first vision board. I’ll never forget it. Every day for me was intense, stressful, and totally exhausting because I was working full time and going to school full time at night. I read in Working Women Magazine about how to create a vision board.

It sounded to me like such a stupid idea. I couldn’t wrap my head around how putting a bunch of pictures on a poster could help you actually achieve your dreams. But, I was struggling daily and the magazine was my go to about being female and successful. So I made the board even though I thought it was a dumb idea. 

I got a bunch of magazines and began carefully cutting out images that represented the things I wanted in life: wedding rings, a pile of money, a gold RX7, a beach vacation, etc.

The beautiful gold car I was driving was something I’d only had for a couple of weeks. I was driving around, oh so happy about being able to purchase it. It was a truly beautiful and sexy gold RX7. It was a limited edition gold color … one I’d never actually seen on the road where I lived.

As I drove my beautiful new car, it suddenly dawned on me that I’d seen the car somewhere before. I realized that I used to have a picture of that very car (in that limited edition color) on my wall.”

I started remembering what the vision board looked like in my mind.

• There was the gold RX7 sport car that I was now driving.
• There had been a pile of money, which clearly I’d managed since I had been able to purchase the car and was paying for college.
• There were wedding rings which my fiance and I had purchased.
• There was an image of a white sandy beach, palm trees, and the beautiful ocean. My fiance and I had gone to Miami Beach the previous Spring Break.

To say I was astonished was a major understatement. I had received absolutely everything on my board.

Now, not all of it turned out to be what I really wanted in life. I hadn’t yet learned so many monumental things that I now know about manifesting, goal setting, and achievement. When I ended my engagement, I had taken the board down. That’s why I didn’t immediately remember that I had the car on my wall.

Vision Boards changed my life.

The board proved to me that I could actually achieve the things I wanted in life. I switched from going after a business degree at a community college to an industrial engineering degree at Virginia Tech. It was, at the time, one of the top 10 engineering schools in the nation. I finished in the top tier of my class and was president of the Institute of Industrial Engineers student chapter during my senior year.

Many years, goals achieved, bits of knowledge and insights later, one of my author clients and I co-wrote a bestselling book on how manifesting really works.
