I was surprised …

I’d only been living in Toronto for a short time. We moved there from Southern California where I held big classes on many transformational, metaphysical, New Age topics. But, in Toronto, my classes had been quite small. I knew part of the reason was that I was new to the area and the students at the bookstore didn’t yet know me.

But I felt there might be something more …

So I asked the store owner who her most popular teacher was. She gave me a name. I then asked what that teacher’s next class was going to be about. When she said, “The Ladies of Camelot,” I got very excited. I’ve loved Camelot, Avalon, the Lady of the Lake, the Arthurian Legends, The Holy Grail, Excalibur, and all the rest for as long as I could remember. And I’d had quite a few initiatory type experiences related to the energies and legends over the years. I told her to sign me up immediately. I wanted to see what this teacher was doing in her classes that I wasn’t.

I sat there in anticipation along with 30 or so others as class was getting started. The teacher began by flipping on an old projector with a list of 5 or 6 ladies of Camelot projected onto a screen. She then read the list to us … word for word. The name of each lady and the one or two sentence description after each was quickly read. She didn’t embellish. She didn’t tell any stories. She just read the slide. (NOTE: I learned years before this that to be a good speaker you never read a slide word for word to those who can read it themselves. It’s boring.)

Then she flipped the projector off and that, I would soon learn, was the end of talking about the ladies of Camelot. She had us form a circle with all 30 or so students and then one by one introduce ourselves and say something specific (I’m not remembering what). With that many people, it took quite a long time. She then did a one-woman play that from my perspective had nothing whatsoever to do with the topic the class was supposedly about. And then, the icing on the cake was that we spent the remainder of the class making fairy wands. Fairy wands! The time to make them was literally 50% of the class time.

I was left perplexed and deeply dissatisfied.

As I reflected on the class, it finally dawned on me. These ladies weren’t there to change their lives; they were there to be entertained. Rather than going to a bar for ladies night out, they were going to the local New Age store and playing with crystals and things.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that if it’s what the person is looking for.

But it’s not at all what I’m about.

When you have a session with me or take one of my courses, if you don’t:

• transform your life in some way,
• find your joy,
• have such an ah hah moment that your life will never be the same,
• release an old fear, negative energy, or belief that has been keeping you stuck,
• actually feel the energies I draw down from on high, or
• become more confident and empowered,

then I’m simply not doing my job.

I’m all about real, tangible, noticeable, positive change.
