Who is Jesus

I was posed a question by email about my thoughts on Jesus and religion. He also was curious about why I claimed to be an Industrial Engineer but didn’t list more credentials than that and only used one name.

Here are my comments:

Hello Dear One:

Blessings to you for the insightful questions and what depths I had to reach within myself in order to find answers – for both of us.

I am an Industrial Engineer. Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 1987 with the name Debbie Shelor. I’ve worked for Fortune 100 companies in that capacity, as well as front line supervision, upper management, etc. I became completely disillusioned with the Corporate World. I made a poor manager. I cared way too much about those who worked for me. The last company I worked for cared only about the bottom line – it was pharmaceuticals after all. I had to compromise myself and my beliefs every day in order to “fit in” and do what was expected of me. I lost my joy in that job. So I left.

Jesus – or the Christ – was a grand and wonderful healer/teacher/friend. He was the way shower – “The Teacher of Righteousness.” And according to Anna, Grandmother of Jesus (a book I totally love), that means right use of energy.

Many light workers work with the Christ energy in healing sessions, in our daily meditation practice, and in our workshops. He is the “guiding light” for many of us. There are numerous fabulous books that describe our relationship with him vs. what is taught in many churches.

Most of us aren’t disillusioned with Jesus. We are disillusioned with what most Christian religions have done to the “truth” – the dogma, the fear, the distortion, and the disempowerment. Of course 2000 years is a very long time. Regardless of what is written in the Bible and the Dead Sea Scrolls, how can any of us truly know who he was and what he was really about? We can only feel him within our own heart. And in the end, that personal relationship is all that matters. It is fact that in 325 A.D. most of the bible was completely distorted. Constantine – who I’ve read was one of the cruelest rulers to ever walk the earth – had his group of advisors rewrite the Bible. They took out all reference to reincarnation. They left out anything mystical, which includes The Gospel of Thomas for example. He is also the one who began waging war in the name of God. How distorted is that? Anyway, the Bible is not the “truth” that it could be. Even with all the distortion, I find the words in the bible about what Jesus spoke, the parables, etc. to be very good guiding advice. I personally try to live by the Golden Rule and I teach that to my son.

If you would like to understand more of the Jesus I know, here are a list of my favorite books on the topic:

Life and Teachings of the Masters of the Far East by Baird Spalding (I prefer the first 3 books)

The Jesus Code by John Randolph Price

Many blessings,

Takara
