It always makes me smile when I think about the doctors and other health professionals that used to end up at Spirit of Nature Retreat (my home north of Santa Fe). Every couple of years a guy does a course on shamanism specifically geared to doctors. And they often did a sweat lodge with my former husband as part of that experience. Why would MDs want to learn Shamanism? Because these doctors and other medical professionals had realized that western medicine was not curing patients and they wanted to add things to their practice that could help.
