The Blue Whale Gift option is for you if you are looking for maximum exposure for your gift. Blue Whale Gifts are placed at the top of the gift list guarantying that the most people will see it. This is the perfect option for maximum exposure for you and your gift. Blue Whale Gifts will remain at the top of the page and rotate in and out of the #1 spot on the page throughout the Giveaway. Orca Gifts

The Orca Gift Option is for people wanting a lot of exposure for their gift but having a smaller advertising budget. With an Orca Gift, you are guaranteed to have your gift rotated near the top of the page. The Orca Gifts will rotate every day, so that your gift will have the top position in the list of Orca Gifts at least once. Limit 10 participants at the Orca Gifts level. Only 2 spots left.

Dolphin Gifts

Dolphin Gifts are the most economical option for those who want to grow their list, but have a smaller advertising budget. Dolphin Gifts will be rotated at least daily throughout the Giveaway, so everyone has the best exposure to their gift.

What Will Happen in the Gifts from the Sea Giveaway?

On March 20th, you’ll send an email to your email list and post on social media announcing the Gifts From the Sea Giveaway. We provide the email and social media messages for you.
People will click the link in the email or social media post that you shared and come to the Gifts From the Sea Giveaway page on our website.
There they will see all the great gifts available, including yours.
They fill out the form to participate in the Giveaway.
After they hit submit, they’re taken to a thank you page where they will see all the gifts and the links to get them.
When they choose your gift, they click the link and will be taken to your website gift page.
They fill out the form on your website and are added to your email list.
Your email system automatically sends them your digital gift.
And now they are a new subscriber for you.

What is a Giveaway?

If you are not familiar with a Giveaway, it’s a website where experts in a certain field or area of interest offer free gifts to people specifically interested in that topic. For the Gifts From the Sea Giveaway, that means people with expertise and knowledge of Dolphins, Whales, the Ocean or spiritual gifts for Cetacean and Ocean lovers. All the experts who offer gifts will be emailing their list and posting on social media. That means thousands of people, many who may not have ever heard of you and your work, get to find out about you and have the opportunity to download your free gift. Once they are on your list, you can send them emails, newsletters, additional free gifts, etc. Ultimately, they can learn enough about you that they decide to become a customer, client, student, etc. It’s a fabulous opportunity and one of the most cost-effective ways to get in front of your best potential customers … those people who love dolphins, whales, the Ocean, and all things spiritual just like you.

Why participate in a Giveaway?

Participating in a Giveaway is an excellent and highly cost-effective way to promote yourself, your business, the products you sell, the coaching services you offer, and/or your tours, trips and retreats to exactly the right people. It is a fabulous way to build your list of email contacts who are already predetermined (by the fact that they have opted in for your free gift) to be your ideal clients for your business. Once the people have entered their email on your webpage, then they are on your list and you can promote anything else you would like to them. Anne and Takara have each had great success with adding many new people to their email lists through similar giveaways. Anne has added as many as 900 new potential clients in one giveaway. Takara added 2000 new subscribers to her email list in one of the giveaways she participated in. We can’t guarantee specific numbers, but we can promise that thousands of people will know about the Giveaway and the opportunity is there for you to add many people to your list.

What Gift should I give away?

There are many things you can give away as your free gift. Think about what your ideal client, customer, student, or retreat participant most wants to experience or learn about. Here are some suggestions:

Ebooks (a sample chapter, short guide book, photo book or journal. In pdf format)
Reports or articles (in pdf format)
Guided meditations (in MP3 format)
Videos (educational or spiritual)
Art (you have created, such as a downloadable image of a painting. Should be original)
Photos (that you own the rights to, and can be downloadable, for example as a screensaver)
Online courses (or the first module or part of an online program)
Online group healing sessions
Teleclasses (live or recorded)
Recordings of dolphins or whale songs (could be combined with music or be used as a meditation background)
Checklists
Etc. You get the idea. Be creative.

Bottom line, your gift should be digital and easily accessed and downloaded online. No physical gifts.

How does the Giveaway work?

The Giveaway is hosted on a website. The Giveaway is live for a set period of time, normally 2-3 weeks. The Gifts from the Sea Giveaway will be held from March 20th to April 2nd.

People who want to receive any of the free gifts will need to enter their first name and email address to access the page with all the gifts listed. Once they enter their name and email, they will automatically be taken to the Gifts page. That is the Gift page from last year’s Giveaway. Then all they have to do is scroll down to see all the gifts and click the blue “Yes! I want this Gift!” button, and they will be taken directly to your website or page where you have the gift available to access or download for them.

Important note: To maximize the value of this Giveaway for yourself, you should have a ‘landing page’ where people can enter their name and email address before you give them access to your gift. See examples here, here, and here. Then you can send them to a page where they can directly access or download the gift, or you can email it to them. If you email them the gift, it should be automated, so the email is sent immediately upon when they sign up. We want to avoid participants emailing me saying they have not received your gift yet. (If you need help with a landing page, contact Anne or Takara and they will help you set one up.)

When you donate a free gift for the Giveaway, it will be listed on the website and anyone who enters their name and email to gain access to all the free gifts, can scroll through all the gifts and select to receive (download or access) them.

Won’t My Gift Get Lost in a Sea of Other Gifts

The short answer is, “No!”

Unlike many other gift giveaways that sometimes have hundreds of contributors, the Gifts from the Sea Giveaway contains a small, carefully selected group of contributors.

Spiritually-minded dolphin, whale, and 0cean lovers is such a unique group of people that there is very little competition among those of us who have products, services, and programs to deLight them. Many of us collaborate on projects … like this one between Anne Gordon and I (Takara). We come together for summits, book collaborations, and often co-lead wild dolphin or whale trips together.

Because so few people provide products and programs for these people, they are hungry for what we each have to offer. And that’s where the Gift Giveaway comes in. By giving them a sample of who you are and what you do, and then over time sharing more with them through your email list, they get to know you better. They will become clients, customers, and sometimes friends with those they resonate with most.

There is more than enough room for all of us who serve this market. And just like dolphins often swim in pods, we like to come together as a group to share our gifts.

How is the Giveaway promoted?

With all of the Experts promoting the Giveaway through emails, social media, interviews and word of mouth, the word will spread as far as possible.

Each Expert will be expected to send at least two (three emails is ideal) email blasts out to all of your contacts and social media posts to those who are interested in dolphins, whales, the ocean and spirituality. By donating your free gift, you are committing to promote the Gifts from the Sea Giveaway with at least two emails and on Social Media. Ideally, your emails will go out as follows:

1. The first email goes out the day the Giveaway begins (March 20th)
2. The second email goes out 7 or so days later (March 30th)
3. The final email goes out near the end of the Giveaway (April 2nd)

Social media posts should happen on the same schedule.

Can I promote my trips, tours and products I sell?

Yes, of course! However, not before the participants have received your free gift. Upsells and promotions for paid services and products should only be offered after the Gifts from the Sea Giveaway has ended.

What do I need to participate?

A free ocean, dolphin, or whale-related gift ready to be accessed or downloaded as soon as the person opts in on your website.
A landing page or webpage devoted only to this free gift (not your home page). This is where they enter their email to receive the gift. (See Example 1 and Example 2) (If you click on Example 1 and click the green button you will see the entire sequence to receive the free gift.)
An easily accessible way to deliver your free gift, such as a download link on a website or automated email sent out. (See Example)
An email automation/tracking system that can automatically add anyone who signs up for your free gift to your list of email contacts. (Examples of email automation systems are MailChimp, Constant Contact, Aweber, Infusionsoft, etc.) These systems should give you a form that you add to your webpage that connects back to your list. If you need help with this, contact Anne or Takara.
A photo of your free gift and a small headshot photo of yourself both in low resolution. 400px x 400px is best. We can crop your images if you don’t know how.
Fill out the form to submit your free gift after you have paid to add your gift.

Once you have all of those in place:

Click on the Link to purchase the Blue Whale, Orca, or Dolphin Gift option you desire.
Fill out the form you will receive by email with all your gift details.
Send an image of your gift (ebook cover, etc.) or yourself to Takara. The preferred size is 400×400 px, but we can work with whatever if graphic design isn’t your thing.
Look for emails from us with more details and the email and social media info you’ll need.
Send out the email and announce on social media when the Giveaway beings. (We’ll send a reminder)
Celebrate as your list begins to grow and more people find out about your work!

Why are there three types of gifts?

There are three options you can choose from when submitting your gift. They give you an opportunity, based on your goals and budget, to have your gift seen by people opting in to participate in the Gifts From the Sea Giveaway. The fees involved cover the cost of creating and hosting the Giveaway and creating and buying Facebook ads to promote the Giveaway.

Blue Whale Gifts – Only six Blue Whale Gift spots are available and only one is allowed per person. Your free gift is featured at the top of the Gift webpage. It will rotate in and out of the #1 spot on the entire page. It is guaranteed to remain at the top during the entire Giveaway. These will have a larger (short paragraph) description of the gift being offered. Price $147

Orca Gifts – Directly under the Blue Whale Gifts will come the Orca Gifts. These will have a larger (short paragraph) description of the gift and will be rotated at least daily during the live Giveaway event so that every Orca Gift will have the top position (of the Orca Gifts) at some point during the event. Price $97

Dolphin Gifts – After the Orca Gifts will be shown the Dolphin Gifts. The listing is smaller and has a shorter description of each gift. These Gifts will be rotated at least daily so every gift will show up on the top row of the Dolphin Gifts section during the Giveaway. Price: $47

How many gifts can I give?

You can give as many gifts as you would like to in both the Orca and Dolphin Gift levels. Only one gift is allowed at the Blue Whale level. Most people give only one gift. But if you would like to give additional gifts, that is wonderful. Each gift must be paid for and submitted separately.

Is there a requirement to participating as an Expert?

You will need to have the following:

A gift that can be accessed online or downloaded easily.
A landing / squeeze /optin page dedicated to your free gift where people can enter their name and email address.
An email list management service (email autoresponder) to collect email addresses (such as MailChimp, Constant Contact, Aweber, etc.)
Commit to promoting the Gifts from the Sea Giveaway by sending at least 2 emails to all of your contacts and posting on social media.
Submit and pay for listing your gift.
