10 Great Tips on How to Love, Honor, and Appreciate Everyone!

Love-HonorSm

It is not always easy to find the “good” in everyone or to genuinely learn to like and appreciate them.

I have a set of beliefs that makes this easier, or at least worth attempting to do. These beliefs or realizations are based on years of study, experience, and what I call “divine revelation (they come to me spontaneously in meditation and at other times when I am quiet and at peace)”:

  1. We are all emanations of the same Divine Source. You can say we are all children of God or spirits inside a body having a human experience or whatever words resonate most with you. The bottom line is, that spark of Divinity inside each of us is worthy of respect.
  2. Regardless of how they are acting, this is a little saying I “received” one day: They are doing the best they can with what they’ve got, whether its what they’ve experienced or what they’ve been taught.
  3. Bullies have typically been bullied. A very famous comment is “Hurt people, hurt people.” Any act of unkindness is typically a sign that the person has been seriously mistreated. I find it easier to feel compassion knowing this.
  4. Our job is to love, honor, accept, and appreciate everyone. There are a multitude of reasons for this. One of those reasons is that if we do that to others, then others will do it to us – the Law of Cause and Effect. Love, honor, acceptance, and appreciation is what everyone is seeking and deserves. Attempting to do that for everyone is my version of following The Golden Rule.
  5. Everything in life happens for a reason. Any discomfort going on in the moment is about learning something about who you are (the shadow self) and the opportunity to heal whatever needs to be healed. It is never about the other person and what they are doing or saying. How are you reacting (and why)? Is it showing you judgments, expectations, “shoulds,” and other things that definitely need to be healed and let go of.
  6. Very similar to the last one … all is as it should be.
  7. Our job is to embrace each moment, not fight against it. I have MANY articles about how to flow with change rather than resist.
  8. Every moment of every day is on purpose. Your soul is here on a spiritual adventure to evolve and grow. Every moment, every encounter, every situation, every person is there because your soul called them there for you to learn something, experience something, etc. Instead of being angry at the person or situation, fighting it, wishing it was different, go deeper and ask “why,” what can I learn, what can I heal, what can I let go of, how is this thought, belief, or judgment holding me back from becoming the person I am intending (on a soul level) to be?
  9. Joy is your natural state of being. Feeling anything less than that is an opportunity to learn and grow. The more out of sorts, angry, sad, riled up over things you are, the more easily something deeply buried is to find, heal, and release.
  10. And finally one of the other sayings I received through divine revelation: You have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

In order to step into your true Magnificence, you have to get outside of your comfort zone. It is in those moments of discomfort, when you are feeling stretched, pushed, and uncomfortable, that the greatest positive change is possible.

I would not be a bestselling author if I had not moved beyond my discomfort to take the actions required to do so.

I would not be nearly as healthy, happy, or have such a joy-filled adventurous life if I had not gone WAY outside my comfort zone on numerous occasions to try new things, study new things, look at everything from a completely different perspective, or do and say things that were uncomfortable.

Helping others find peace, joy, and gain a new perspective, even while going through a really rough time, is one of my super powers. I offer private consultations for those needing laser-targeted assistance and wishing to make huge leaps in consciousness and awareness, truly breaking free of blocks and limitations and stepping into their true Magnificence. For those in a leadership role, these breakthroughs allow them to be of even greater service and help even more people in a bigger way.

All of the Dancing Dolphin Sacred Healing Oils & Mists assist in bringing peace and a new perspective as well.

Have a glorious day!

Abusers Are Losers - Get Them Out of Your Life Pronto!

Abusers Are Losers - Get Them Out of Your Life Pronto!

NO amount of abuse, whether it be physical, mental/emotional, or spiritual/energetic, is acceptable. Any time you are not being (feeling) loved, honored, accepted, and/or appreciated for who you are, it is often a sign that abuse of one kind or another is happening.

I’ve been through various forms of abuse myself and thankfully I’ve healed, moved on, and lived to tell the tale. Over the years I’ve also worked with hundreds of clients who were facing similar issues. There is a saying that goes, “Religion is for people who are afraid of going to hell, Spirituality is for people who have already been there.” Many who turn to spirituality, metaphysics, energy healing, alternative/complementary medicine, etc. do it to heal issues that, whether they realize it or not, began because of abuse of one form or another.

I’ve written many articles about who you allow into your inner circle. I can’t stress enough how truly important that is for your health and physical / mental / emotional / and spiritual wellbeing.

Who and what you allow in says to your subconscious mind, the Universe, and those around you what you desire and deserve.

Every time you allow abuse, you are saying: “I deserve that. I am not worthy of being honored, loved, respected, and appreciated. I am not lovable”

Those are horrendous affirmations and they must stop NOW!

Because, Dear One, they are absolute LIES!

You are magnificent!
You are an embodiment of Divinity walking on planet earth!
You deserve everything – to be happy, healthy, and successful as you define success!
You are a precious gift and you deserve all that you desire.

Not sticking up for yourself is also abusive. It’s you abusing yourself, saying you don’t deserve better.

And yet, when you are in it, you feel:

  • stressed,
  • afraid,
  • less than,
  • unworthy, and/or
  • unlovable

No matter how smart, or seemingly successful you are, you often can’t see a way out. Or, as a defense mechanism, you don’t even allow yourself to see or recognize that you are being abused.

Abuse of any kind causes damage not only to self esteem, but also to the energy field (aura) around you. When the energy field is damaged – ripped, shredded or torn – all sorts of icky sticky energy can “get in” and then you have even more disharmonious/noxious stuff to deal with.

If you find yourself in an abusive situation, call on a friend and ask for support from the Universe (God by whatever name), and get out as fast as possible! Find a place to step back into wholeness that is safe.

Most Dancing Dolphin products were designed to assist with putting things back into wholeness, harmony, and alignment energetically. Each one of the sacred healing oils and mists helps to soothe the hurt places, to lift you up energetically so you can see more clearly and heal what needs to be healed and deal with what needs to be dealt with.

The perfect energetic to support anyone facing current or past abuse of any kind is the Dancing Dolphin sacred healing oil of Turquoise. It is nurturing, healing, protective, helps to lift you up into a safe space for healing and transformation. And, like all Dancing Dolphin products, contains Dolphin Healing Energies and other powerful energetics that take you and your spiritual journey to a whole new level.

In Pursuit of the Spiritual

In Pursuit of the Spiritual

I decided to watch the Ironman event televised from Hawaii. Thanks to a former boyfriend, I know a great deal about professional cycling and events like the Tour de France. I had never watched the Ironman before, but it definitely brought back memories. What is it about these events that hold so much appeal for me?

They are noble. And they are very much like the pursuit of a spiritual quest.

The men and women who participate in these events are absolutely the epitome of physical strength and endurance. They are dedicated. What was it the announcer said about why they participate?

“They come to find out what they are made of. It takes passion, courage, and determination.

And he is right. They are warrior athletes. Their life is dedicated to the perfection of their body and their skill. And in the race, it often comes down to what’s in their mind. Mental strength wins every time.

Have you ever watched the Tour de France?

Hour after hour, day after day, they ride. It doesn’t matter what the weather is. It doesn’t matter what the other racers are doing. They each have to do it on their own. Sure they have support from people in a van with food, water, spare tires and encouragement. But no one is out there riding for them.

They see the ridiculously challenging mountain ahead of them and they have a choice. Do they continue with “their journey,” riding their best, trusting that they have what it takes to finish, or do they quit?

If they continue, do they do it at less than their best, letting the physical pain and exhaustion overshadow their desire to succeed? Or do they ignore what’s happening in their body, in their surroundings, and stay in a centered place looking always at the goal and going after it with everything they’ve got?

Those are questions I will also ask of you?

What is a spiritual journey about anyway?

There are a million different spiritual paths and spiritual journeys to take in order to get there.

Where is a Spiritual Journey leading to?

Each path is leading to freedom and joy.

What kind of freedom?

The freedom to be who you truly are – a Divine being without limitations of any kind. A person walking around completely in union in every moment with Spirit.

In that space there is only love, there is only joy, there is only compassion, there is only perfect health, there is only peace, there is only abundance, and there is only the desire to assist other humans in achieving the same.

There is no room for lack, for fear, for worry, for war, or for strife.

If that is the end result you are attempting to attain, then . . .

What is required to get there?

Can you just sit at home, read a few books, take a few seminars, pray, hold a few crystals and experience instant enlightenment?

The answer is a very big NO!

It requires dedication. It means finding out what you are made of. It takes passion, courage, and determination.

It is a quest well worth the effort. But, just like the Ironman or the Tour de France, few athletes ever even get to participate in those events. Most people don’t have what it takes.

How dedicated are you to your spiritual quest?

What have you done that proves you are totally dedicated?

For me, the greatest metaphor for the spiritual journey is the quest for the holy grail which includes knights slaying dragons and facing numerous other perils. When the going gets tough, the best still persist.

How many dragons have you slain lately?

During the course of my conscious spiritual journey, I’ve done what I consider to be some pretty amazing and scary things.

For two and a half years, without exception, I arose at 4 a.m. and meditated, did yoga, and prepared for my day.

I felt inner prompting to do things and go places that felt very uncomfortable. Yet I followed the inner promptings and was exhilarated by each one.

I rode horses bareback and blindfolded. I walked on fire. I ran at top speed blindfolded down a hill that ended at a huge cliff that dropped into the raging ocean below.

I left a perfectly good job with very high pay to travel across the country to live in a place I’d never visited before and to start a nonprofit for dolphins and whales.

And if that isn’t enough insanity, after seeing a guy only 4 times I asked him to move in with me. I didn’t even know his last name. Yes it was Raven – my former husband.

O.K. so I’m daring. I follow my intuition. And I’ve done some physical things that prove I’ve got some spiritual dedication.

But what about the REALLY hard stuff?

The things I’ve already mentioned are actually quite easy compared to facing the real dragons.

What Are The Real Dragons You Must Face?

What about looking at every facet of yourself and seeing the truth. What do you fear deep down inside? What beliefs do you hold, false beliefs, which are holding you back at every turn? Who and what do you judge as wrong or bad or it shouldn’t be that way? What happened in your childhood, or even a past life, that you haven’t REALLY gotten over?

You can’t just face these dragons. You have to slay them.

This is where you get to discover if you are truly dedicated to the spiritual quest and will actually achieve freedom and joy. Or are you just another weekend athlete with a dream you’ll never actually pursue?

People often call to ask me questions about my various products. When we start discussing Dancing Dolphin Formula #28 for Fear and Core Issues, I explain that these essences help those dragons come fully to the surface. At this point the person usually laughs, you can sense their tension, and they say they aren’t sure they want to look at those things.

Ah, but isn’t that the real challenge of the quest?

What the Spiritual Journey Requires of You

Without looking at the shadow, the fear, the thing you are sorry and ashamed that you did or said, you are only pretending to be spiritual.

The spiritual journey requires that you face those things head on, that you discover your weaknesses, that you heal the wounds, that you forgive even what or whom may seem unforgiveable – including yourself.

It requires that you take responsibility for the part you have played in every thing and event that has ever happened in your life. It requires that you learn to rise above circumstances and even your own weaknesses to do what you know is right – even when that is downright and sometimes paralyzingly uncomfortable.

It requires a great deal of maturity, responsibility, compassion, and over and over again forgiveness.

As long as there are dragons, they have to be slain (looked at, learned from, and dismissed forever). Otherwise the end result can never be attained.

Are You Truly a Spiritual Warrior or Are You Just Pretending?

Who have you refused to forgive?

In which event from your past do you still feel like you were a victim?

What issues, situations, or people can instantly press your sadness or anger buttons?

If you give up when having to face those situations, then you are just pretending that you are dedicated to your spiritual journey. You are simply being an armchair observer instead of a full out warrior participant.

The dragons show up as the things that aren’t working in your everyday life.

Make the commitment to yourself and to Spirit to face them head on.

Ask for help – it is there in every moment.

And never ever ever give up.

Here’s to your journey,

Everyone has something that they are extraordinary at. Whether its breathtakingly difficult like the skills on this video or as simple as having immense patience when others do you … you too can be magnificent and lead an extraordinary life!

The impact one person can have on a life is mind-boggling. At a time when I was in the pit of despair, I felt “inspired” to visit a New Age bookstore for the first time. How I found the courage to do that is a miracle in itself. I read the title of every book on every shelf in the entire store. I discovered whole sections of information I never knew existed. But nothing seemed to jump out and grab me with the desire to take it home.

I was literally down on my knees with my face almost touching the floor trying to read the books on the bottom shelf in this one area of the store and I came across the book, Affirmations, by Stuart Wilde. Now what you have to realize is that I grew up with a Southern Baptist mom. I’d never ever studied anything even remotely alternative, and here I was bowing down on my knees basically begging for answers and Stuart Wilde entered my life.

Once I’d read Affirmations, I came back for all the rest. I read every book he had out at the time. Then listened to every audio I could get my hands on. I can’t tell you how many times I listened to the crystal cave meditations in 33 Steps Beyond the Earth Plane. Like Stuart, I am able to go into a theta brain-wave state with my eyes open. I call it “clicking into theta.”

I found out from a friend that Stuart was going to be giving a talk in Princeton. I was living in Pennsylvania at the time and decided to make the drive to see him live. After the lecture, I discovered information on a table somewhere about his 8-day Warriors in the Mist training. It was a no-brainer to sign up to attend.

That’s me on the bottom left here with my Arban at Warriors in the Mist in the beautiful Sangre de Christo Mountains of New Mexico.

Stuart Wilde Serving Food at the Final Feast for Warriors in the Mist

As you would expect, it was an awesome experience full of wisdom, insight, mystery, lots of fun, and a fair bit of mayhem – just enough to take you out of your comfort zone in a way that only Stuart could pull off with as much flair. I made a few life-long friends there.

Me on our first day of horseback riding at Warriors in the Mist

Khris Krepcik, the hooded sage, whom Stuart became very close to, was in my Arban (the group we were divided into for the training). I believe it was the first time they ever met.

Again I’m on the left … hmm I wonder if that means something? LOL (Of course from my perspective facing the camera), I would have been on the right.

Our Arban won the overall competition despite the fact that we were all leaders and there seemed to be no followers. We had a very hard time agreeing on a course of action as we went through the various spiritual warrior training exercises throughout the week. We were able, finally, to work as a team during the competition and when it really mattered, we won.

I met a woman there doing what I considered to be a noble project – trying to assist an orca in captivity to return to her wild pod in the San Juan Islands. Soon after the training, I left my life as a corporate engineer and moved to the San Juans to co-found a non-profit with her for dolphins and whales.

I lived first on an island, then on a sacred mountain, after that in the high desert of Santa Fe, New Mexico (a place I fell in love with during Warriors in the Mist). I even lived on a million dollar yacht in the South Pacific for a while. In each of these locations, I spent hours communing with nature and meditating often.

I went from Stuart’s theta meditation and metaphysical teachings on to many more. Once I left the environment of the corporation, I began to delve very deeply into metaphysics, spirituality, inner peace, energetic and emotional healing, Divine connection, flowing with the Universe, receiving Divine insights and wisdom directly.

My life has been a glorious adventure and I’m now a bestselling author myself.

Now teaching my own students about advanced energy healing techniques, metaphysics, spirituality, personal empowerment, etc., I often share stories about Stuart and talk about things he taught me, as well as his version of modern-day Toaism. I come back to it again and again in my own personal evolution.

Stuart showed up at precisely the right time and when I jumped off the cliff with his help, I learned to fly.

I believe the image on the cover of his book, The Quickening, is based on this quote: “Come to the edge.’ ‘We can’t. We’re afraid.’ ‘Come to the edge.’ ‘We can’t. We will fall!’ ‘Come to the edge.’ And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.” ~ Christopher Logue

I think of him often. It always makes me smile.

Much love to you Dear One wherever you are for all that you are and all that brought to my life.

Have a deLightful day,

Takara

P.S. If you knew Stuart Wilde, or just appreciated his wisdom, humor, and metaphysical finesse, leave a comment below letting us know how he impacted your life! And if you were in my Arban and in one of the photos above, PLEASE send me a message. I would love to reconnect with those I haven’t been able to keep up with over the years.

This is an extraordinary video by 3 girls on the Queen Latifah show.

I watch a lot of videos and many of them speak to me. But its been a LONG time since I’ve seen anything so moving. The words they speak are true, and most of the things they discuss are truly sad facts.

Listen.

Listen with your heart.

Listen with your mind.

And perhaps, one day, there will be no need for videos such as this because so much has changed in a positive way that the need for this will no longer exist.

ENJOY!

Return from the A Powerful Message from 3 Powerful Girls Page to the Magnificent U Home Page

Singing for some is literally bearing the soul. Its obvious that this is one of those cases.

To hear him sing means seeing all of who he is. Its extremely vulnerable and if you’ve been pushed around, made fun of, or watched others go through that, its safer to stay quiet and let people wonder what’s up with you.

This young man stood there, pulled open his jacket and bared his chest – metaphorically – saying here I am, take your best shot. Wow did that take courage. For many, they will never muster up the courage to make such a bold statement about who they are. Instead they will remain small, less than they could be, bending to the conformity thrust upon them by others.

His soul cried out to be heard until he could no longer ignore it. The more people who find that courage, the more others will feel they can do it also. Its a great act by a very courageous soul.

The truth is, in the wrong environment, it would have been misunderstood and probably ridiculed.

His talent is very personal and he didn’t know how to let it out until the right time came. Thankfully the time did come and he was up for the challenge. I can only imagine what he must have been feeling before going on stage.

Daniel Jacob had this to say: “This is the very heart of the current transformation . . . men getting in touch with their feminine . . . and this man is choosing to bring that into form GRAPHICALLY and WHOLISTICALLY. Very much like the Shamans in many indigenous cultures who wear skirts to honor their feminine side. This man is doing it with make-up and with his voice. The fact that he is so embraced and so honored is a great sign for the planet! We’re more “on time” than we’ve acknowledged!”

To which I replied, “its not just the men needing to get in touch with their feminine side. The ladies are doing it big time as well. This morning I spent a couple of hours discussing this very thing. Even though many of us have embraced our feminine in some ways, in others we are just beginning. To be a vessel for the Divine Feminine requires learning an entirely new way of “being.” So much fun to understand and explore. I LOVE what this guy is doing and the things it is bringing up. So thank you, Daniel, for getting this particular conversation started by posting the video. Much love Dear One!”

People spend their whole lives comparing themselves with others and often feeling they come up short. They feel they are somehow less than, inferior, not as good, pretty, intelligent, rich, confident, or skilled, as someone else.

Magazines, television, families, churches, friends and co-workers all convince you that you should be a certain way, dress a certain way, and think a certain way.

You need to learn to love, honor, accept, appreciate, and acknowledge the gifts and talents you’ve been given, as well as your uniqueness, your body, mind, and emotions, all the quirks and delights of your personality.

If you could for one moment see yourself through God’s eyes, you would know – finally – the delight you bring to the Universe. You are a blessing. You are a gift. You came here with a mission and you are doing exactly what you are supposed to be in every now moment.

No matter who you are, what you’ve been through, or even what you’ve done,  you have a special role to play here. And you are loved.

When you can really “get” that. When you can feel it and know it to the depths of you, then and only then will your life change.

If you are like most people, you are your own worst enemy – constantly criticizing and ridiculing yourself.

Stop the judgment and ridicule. Give yourself a break. Realize that even though you are not perfect, its totally O.K. You are doing the best you can and it is absolutely, positively O.K. to screw it up sometimes.

You need to become your own best friend. Instead of ridicule, why not pat yourself on the back and say “good job.” Allow yourself to be proud and excited when you find the courage to try something new. Because that is what its going to take to ever muster up the courage to truly be yourself and let your unique light shine forth for all the world to see.

You are Magnificent!

  1. Just love this “No matter who you are, what you’ve been through, or even what you’ve done, you have a special role to play here. And you are loved.”…There is always some good and bad in all of us 🙂

  2. Thanks for sharing Anita. There is good and bad or a little light and dark in each of us. There is also brilliance, very special gifts, and skills that others could benefit from knowing about that people truly need to find the courage to let shine. I like to say to people, the people you want on your inner circle are those who truly see you for who you are and love, honor, appreciate, and accept you – warts and all.

  3. It is very hard for many people to get in tune with the real self, while they are tying so hard to be perfect under the standards our society sets. We are taught to behave a certain way, so we can stay “in line” and other people have a hard time accepting us if we don’t have the label they can recognise stapled on out foreheads.
We need to learn to get in tune with ourselves. And that’s why we need people like you, Debbie.

  4. Love the being “in tune” part of your message. Being in tune with who you are, and with the Universe, is so important. The more we compromise, bending and becoming small, in order to fit in, the more our Soul screams from suffocation. Conformity to societal expectations feels like a straight jacket which some are able to wear more easily than others. I had to leave the corporate world and move to the West Coast in order to breathe freely. Now that I’m back on the East Coast, staying true to who I am has been challenging as much of who I am just doesn’t fit into the normal box of people’s expectations. I homeschool. I’m a writer. I use alternative and complementary medicine before rushing to the doctor. I eat organic. I don’t drink soft drinks or beer. I teach personal and spiritual growth. I changed my name to something many don’t even know how to say. Oh my, I am definitely “weird” – and loving it! LOL Life is too short to spend all your time trying to please everyone else. Find the joy within, then people want to know what you are doing and they find you interesting. There will always be those who criticize and belittle others making them wrong. That’s their problem, not yours. Shine your light and have a great day!

  5. Sometime ago I became my own best friend, and started re-gain my self-esteem, I felt so much better. I realized that I needed to be wonderful for taking care of others, and things went to their places. Thanks for the post, it is always good to re-affirm our uniqueness!

  6. And wouldn’t the world be a horribly boring place if we were all truly the same! Thanks for sharing Meire Weishaupt.

  7. Ditto Anita’s comment … “No matter who you are, what you’ve been through, or even what you’ve done, you have a special role to play here. And you are loved.” Many people need to hear this …

  8. So true. People do need to hear this. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read the post.

  9. I agree that being able to see ourselves through God’s eyes would make a huge difference, however, I believe it is important to note that this is where the role of parents is crucial. Recognizing that children receive approximately 90% of their information about themselves and the world around them from their parents…they are the conduit through which our perception of ourselves is initially formulated…we, as parents, can also make a huge difference in their level of confidence, esteem and self-image. Thanks for sharing your insights!

  10. I completely agree Denny. That’s one of the main reasons I, and many of my friends, homeschool. I just can’t bring myself to expose my child to the level of bullying I experienced in high school. Self esteem is critical to success in every area of life. Self image also has a great deal to do with a person’s level of happiness and feelings of fulfillment. Yes, parents play a vital role in how a child views him or herself. Great insights Denny. Thanks for sharing. Here is an article where I share my thoughts on homeschooling and self esteem: http://www.homeschoolsantafe.com/ Scroll down the home page to read the article.

  11. I watched that episode and season of America’s Got Talent…Andrew was a shock to everyone, judges and audience alike. It goes to show that we are the only ones who hold ourselves back. We place judgements on ourselves that we think others perceive…quite the opposite can be true. What a life lesson about our self esteem he taught this fiery grandma.

  12. I love these moments when someone you wouldn’t expect to do something grand, does something grand. It always brings tears to my eyes. Reminds me a great deal of Susan Boyle and how she brought down the house on Britain’s Got Talent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxPZh4AnWyk – just watched it again and yep, there were the tears. What a great inspiration.

  13. If you could for one moment see yourself through God’s eyes, you would know – finally – the delight you bring to the Universe. You are a blessing. You are a gift. You came here with a mission and you are doing exactly what you are supposed to be….LOVE this!! Reminds of Eshesian 2:10…We are His workmanship…his poetry, his masterpiece, a priceless work of art….getting that through my thick head has not been easy though..that i not the message i receieved for many years….

  14. Thanks for stopping by Carl. You are not alone in “getting it.” As I’ve worked with people, and observed myself, over the past 18 or so years, I can say with great confidence that seeing who you really are, your special gifts, and feeling good about yourself and those gifts is the greatest challenge most people face. We learn from a young age to compare ourselves with others – and we feel we fall short. There is always someone who is smarter, more attracted, more wealthy, more successful, etc. Whether it is our parents, peers, and teachers who point out our faults, or us doing it to ourselves, the result is the same – very low self image. Amazing things happen when a person can finally see their own magnificence – not from an ego place, but from a confident and joy-filled place.

  15. I adore the guy on this video, as he came out to decide that his days of being shy and being an outcast has ended. He showed the world what he can do. Thanks for sharing this inspirational video.

  16. Hi Lori:

Thanks for stopping by. It is quite inspirational.

    Have a deLightful evening,
    Takara

You are on a hero’s journey. Your life is your quest. The events that make up your daily life experience are the hurdles and obstacles you have to climb, conquer, and find a way to overcome to reach your desired destination. No hero starts out that way. They begin as some ordinary, unassuming person from a village somewhere. Then something horrible happens. There is a big issue or situation that has been suddenly thrust upon them.

So the hero in the making sets off into “zones unknown” as Dean Black puts it. He/she has to decide the quest is worth it, often facing a fairly high level of fear and trepidation along the way. They have to leave the comfort and security of what they know and understand and head out to see and experience people and situations that they never even knew existed when they were back in the village.

The hero has to do things they never thought they could. They have to reach deep down inside themselves and find the strength and courage to deal with whatever comes their way.  It’s not for the faint of heart. And yet, you are already on such a quest even if you don’t realize that you are.

If you are unhealthy, unhappy, or unsuccessful, then those are the obstacles on your path right now. Most things like that don’t just jump up and surprise you. They were a long time in the making. In fact, it might have been several generations in the making.

Nothing of any consequence is achieved overnight. It takes considerable time and effort and it often requires help.

If you are one of those people who thinks you can do it all on your own, then listen up:  If you had the tools, confidence, and knowledge necessary to fix the problem on your own, you would have done so already! Would you not?

You can be healthy.

You can be happy.

You can be successful – however you define success.

The only thing you have to change is the one thing that you truly can . . . and that is you!

Sin is wrong thinking. Thinking that sickness, poverty, disappointment, and struggle are “normal” or inevitable is wrong thinking.

There is an idea that says you are the sum total of the 5 people you hang out with the most. Think about it. Who are they? What is their life like? What do they think about? How kind are they? What do they feel is important? What do they judge? What do their income level, education, and dreams about the future look like? And is that what you want for yourself?

You don’t have to replace all your friends to shift this. You can begin the process by feeding your mind new information through books, articles, audios, videos, and workshops. Make nature one of your friends. Spend time each day in quiet contemplation, in silence, in meditation. Journal your thoughts, your insights, the new things you are learning.

If you want to change, then you have to step out of the comfort zone of the people you hang out with and do something different. I prefer the radical approach. I liken it to jumping into the deep end of the pool without first sticking your toe in to see how cold the water is. You move across the country or even the world. You marry a foreigner. You leave the corporate world and strike out on your own. That’s my way.

Why?

Because the idea of being anything less than my full potential is just not O.K. with me.

Most people can’t handle the insecurity of such a radical lifestyle. I happen to thrive on it. It proves to me that if I can do those things, then there is no reason I can’t also achieve all of my dreams. If I can muster up the courage to start my own business, then becoming a bestselling author is also within reach. If I can jump on a plane to live aboard a million dollar yacht in Fiji, then manifesting a more luxurious lifestyle has to also be possible for me.

When I made the bestseller list, it was both exciting and surprising. Surprising because this is not the book that I thought would be the “big one.” I was convinced that the big one was one of the books in the 5-book New Dance series that I’m currently penning. So, I wasn’t attached to this book being a bestseller. And that is probably why it became one. I was not all wrapped up emotionally in its success. Even though it was a bit exciting, it was also fairly anticlimactic. O.K. I now have the title. What now?

Even though I wasn’t emotionally attached to the outcome, I knew I had to do whatever I felt Divinely guided to do in order to get it out there. What it required of me was definitely outside of my comfort zone. I had to muster up the courage to do things I was uncomfortable with. But that’s what it took to achieve the thing. So that’s what I did. It was definitely not easy. And most people would never be willing to get that uncomfortable to achieve their dreams. That’s why most people never achieve them.

Often the Universe forces you to be the hero of your own life. You lose your job, you get cancer, your spouse cheats. You know . . . the typical disasters that make you sit up and take notice . . . and finally agree that your life needs to change and it is you that must change it.

  1. Very well written Takara – a gift with words! You’ve mentioned so many important points, but the 2 that really stand out for me are: Feeding your mind new information, and anything less than full potential is just not O.K. I believe we need to embrace these fully to be able to move forward in our journey. Also, as long as we are self aware and act, we’ll be able to recognize our own journey successfully. Have an amazing 2013.

  2. Hi Gary:

Thanks for stopping by. I agree with you. Those are definitely very important points.

Sending you blessings for a fabulous 2013,
    Takara

  3. What a fantastic post! The good news was when you said: “The only thing you have to change is the one thing that you truly can . . . and that is you!”

  4. Hi Susan: I spend most of my time helping people with that piece. So often people look outside themselves, judging and condemning other people, organizations, or situations. That typically is a pointless waste of time and energy. When a person can change themselves, their whole life miraculously shifts and the outer begins to reflect the inner. Everything works much more smoothly. Fun!

  5. Wishing you a wonderful 2013, as well! Great post! It’s amazing what can happen when we dig deep and move out of our comfort zone. : D

  6. Hi Sherie: Thanks for sharing. It is fabulous what can happen outside the comfort zone. I wish it was easier for everyone to see how dramatically things can change when they learn to “trust” that the Universe has their best interest in mind.

  7. Such a beautiful article, Takara. Liked this: “The only thing you have to change is the one thing that you truly can . . . and that is you!” It sounds so simple and powerful! Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year!

  8. Hi: Thanks for visiting and commenting. It is extremely powerful and fairly simple. Sadly, most people are terrified of looking at the limiting beliefs, fears, judgments, and expectations that are holding them back. And even worse, most people don’t have the tools necessary to “fix” an issue even if they are willing to look at it. Thank heavens I, and many others, have developed and discovered tools that truly do help.

  9. Love starting off my year with all these motivating and inspiring posts. It really is a matter of deciding you can and then giving yourself the permission and the tools to achieve your own magnificence. Thanks, Debbie.

  10. Thanks for visiting Marie: Most people just need 1 other person to truly believe in their potential for them to begin believing they can achieve their dreams.

  11. Thanks for a wonderful post Takara. You brought up so many good points. I really appreciate your point that to create your best life you have to dig deep and find strength and courage to deal with whatever comes.

  12. Thanks for stopping by Jean. I love that quote by Einstein about the definition of insanity “Doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result.” Yet most people refuse to do something new, step out of their comfort zone, learn from someone else, or try something different. It takes a significant amount of courage. But the more you do it, the more you see the fantastic results because you did so. It helps build the trust you need to take uncomfortable actions next time. I’m pretty freakin’ courageous. I’ve walked on fire. I’ve ridden horses bareback and blindfolded. I’ve run at top speed downhill toward a cliff dropping off into the raging ocean below while blindfolded. I’ve pushed past a lot of fears. I married a foreigner. I left the comfort and security of a high paying engineer’s job to move to an island and start a non-profit for dolphins and whales.

  13. “Because the idea of being anything less than my full potential is just not O.K. with me”.

    This is an awesome statement!

  14. Hi and thanks for visiting. It reminds me of my favorite quote: “Life is either a daring adventure . . . or it is nothing.” ~ Helen Keller.

  15. Powerful article. I agree with Gary, feeding your mind new information, and anything less than full potential is just not O.K. And it is a process, this journey we travel on. Learning more day to day and implementing more. Getting it bit by bit and living the way our Creator originally intended for us to live. Thanks!

  16. Thanks Norma. I love the personal journey toward what I call magnificence. I also LOVE helping others as they learn to navigate theirs. Fun!

  17. Excellent article with a powerful message, our life can and will be what we choose it to be! We have all we need within, all we have to do is believe in ourselves and ACT!

  18. Thanks for stopping by Denny. And once we start the action it is so much easier. The act of getting started, taking that breath and daring to do whatever, seems to be the hardest part. Once you are doing the thing, you realize how easy it is and how silly it was to resist it in the first place.

  19. Acheiving dreams is definitely not a matter of comfort! But it is so worth it as we attain another nugget of our dream! 🙂 Step out and make it happen!

  20. Absolutely! Thanks for stopping by Carl.

  21. So many wonderful mentions in your post; I loved it! The part about you are the sum total of the 5 people you hang out the most was told to me in a similar way in the past by a friend of mine. She said to try not to be around negative people since that can bring you down. However, if they are people that you really do want to keep in your circle of friends or they are close family members and they are negative, then, as you pointed out too, you don’t have to replace them but find other outlets to learn and not be around that negativity so much.

  22. Hi Allison. Thanks for your comments. Monitoring the amount of negativity you let in is not always easy. It is definitely worth it though. Have a great day, Takara

  23. So many points that resonate in here with me, thank you. This one struck a special chord ~ “Often the Universe forces you to be the hero of your own life.” I find that to be so true. You can either take these experiences that come your way and allow them to break you or make you. For those of us who choose to be the heros, they are the most extraordinary and strengthening experiences of a lifetime. Thanks for a great article. I also will never settle for less than my full potential!

  24. Hi Jennifer – thanks for stopping by. Seeing the lesson or silver lining in a tough situation is a skill well worth developing. Many blessings to your continued success, Takara

  25. Wonderful article. Great things can happen when you step out of your comfort zone… so I’ve heard, LOL. It’s not something that comes easy for me! I prefer to dip a toe in, think about it and see how it goes, rather than jump right in (or out?), but I know I should really jump! I don’t know why the comfort zone is so comfortable–it’s often boring and/or unhappy.

  26. Debbie…thanks for the great post, we think alike! I agree that you are who you hang around and that is the first step in evaluating where you are and where you want to be.

Happiness is a choice, because we all will get hit with uncomfortable circumstances in life…it’s what we do with them that matters!

  27. Very inspiring post here Takara! You are absolutely right about stepping out of my comfort zone to achieve my dreams and goals. “You are on a hero’s journey. Your life is your quest.” I love the way you point this out.

RunAway

Because of the nature of who I am and the business I’m in, people often tell me things about their past that they never dare share with anyone else. I’ve heard so many horror stories from clients and friends, sometimes random strangers, about the things that happened to them in their own homes, and outside the home as they were growing up and even into adulthood. Being  “staked” and gang raped, starved and locked in a closet, pimped out by parents who were part of a cult, beaten to the point of having a near death experience because they were legally dead, and on and on it goes. These are “normal” people from all walks of life and every economic level. You would never know as an onlooker that they are survivors of such madness.

Yet, on the inside, they suffer … Read more
