Being an Empath

I teach a lot of people a lot of things:

  • how to heal issues from the past
  • how to forgive
  • how to deal with being an empath
  • how to reclaim your passion and purpose
  • how to experience greater levels of inner peace and joy
  • how to rise in consciousness and awareness
  • how to access higher wisdom
  • how to clear disharmonious negative energies from yourself, as well as your home, work, and other environments

The list could go on of course.

But that last one I mentioned about dealing with something negative in yourself or your environment . . . how do you know it is actually your “stuff” that you are dealing with?

Often, in fact, it is not!

I’m sure you are probably wondering what I am talking about.

Sometimes you unexpectedly experience negative emotions like anger, sadness, or fear. Other times, you might wake up with this uneasy feeling that you can’t quite put your finger on.

Dowsers, empaths, and highly intuitive people often start looking for the cause of those feelings. They will ask questions like, “Is something ‘bad’ about to happen?” Or, “Am I upset about what Nancy said to me yesterday?”

It’s one thing to encounter a person or situation and have an immediate reaction. You know exactly what was done or said that upset you. And you can decide to forgive or have a conversation with the person to clear the air.

But when you have an unexpected negative emotion or feeling, it becomes very taxing sometimes to figure out why and then to rid yourself of it.

Often, the problem is that it simply isn’t your “stuff.” You’re simply being an empath picked up on the feelings, often outwardly unexpressed, that someone else is “running.”

Sometimes it is as if you have run into a negative vortex (like a little energy tornado) and now you are stuck there. These “icky” feelings might last a few hours, a few days, a few weeks . . . may we have a drum roll please . . . EVEN A FEW YEARS!

No, I’m not making this up and I’m not kidding.

It’s bad enough that you have energetic ties (cords) to people that can negatively affect you that will remain in place until they are removed properly.

But now you have to be concerned about picking up other people’s negative energy and emotions.

I’ll never forget the time I was terrified …

of being audited by the IRS.

O.K., first of all, I had nothing logical to fear. I always file my taxes accurately and on time. So, there was no obvious ‘reason’ the fear was so pronounced.

But day after day for several weeks, I would wake up with this gripping fear that I’d done something wrong on my taxes. I tried all kinds of things to rid myself of the feeling.

I don’t ever seem to be terrified about things. Having meditated for so many years, I live in a calm centered place almost all the time. Obsessive worry is a completely foreign concept to my reality. So these feelings and thoughts were almost unbearable.

When I repeatedly dowsed about being audited, I always got “no.” But I just couldn’t seem to rid myself of the thoughts and feelings.

Then one day a woman from the homeschool co-op that I was part of shared that she and her husband had been going through this horrific audit by the IRS. They had been dealing with it for weeks on end. And she had been basically a basket case all that time.

You have got to be kidding me!

I had been going through absolute agony and it wasn’t even my stuff.

And even worse than that, I already knew better. I had already been down this road several times and had some truly fast and effective methods for handling it.

I couldn’t believe I hadn’t remembered to ask the all important question. (Read on to find out what that is . . .)

Being in a feminine body means that I am naturally receptive. On top of that, my astrological sign is Pisces. Since Pisces is a water sign, it means that I am, therefore, naturally more sensitive to energy and emotion than many other people. Having raised my consciousness and awareness significantly over the past couple of decades, my sensitivity has been amplified even more. All of that is great for working with healing energies and picking up on the subtle. But it is not so great for dealing with intense negative emotions.

So . . .

Being an empath, until I figured out what was happening, I had become an emotional garbage collector. Other people had a lot of emotional junk. And I kept picking it up and carrying it for them.

I couldn’t believe I hadn’t recognized that sooner about the IRS issue.

Maybe you find yourself obsessing about:

  • needing more money
  • declining health
  • making a mistake
  • upsetting someone
  • or something else

What if you have been worried about those things for a long time and it isn’t even your stuff?

And, if you are worried about those things, your natural flow of “good stuff” in those areas can’t happen?

Yikes!

You can’t have good health if you are obsessing about poor health.

You can’t have money flooding in your direction if you worried about not having enough.

So you see, it is critical that you not run fear about such things if you want to be healthy, happy, successful, charismatic, lovable, full of joy . . . you get the idea.

So what should you do when a negative emotion pops up?

The first question you should ask is: “Is this mine?”

If the answer is “Yes,” then you need to do some healing.

If the answer is “No,” then you need to clear out the energy. In my online course on pendulum dowsing, I give you a great method for handling it immediately and effectively.

In the meantime, visit the link and start doing the Daily Harmony meditation every day. It is not quite as thorough as some of my more advanced techniques, but it will still cause significant improvements if you’ve picked up someone else’s stuff. And, best of all, it’s FREE. Many people do it every day … even with their kids.

Why Does Debbie Takara Shelor Have So Many Beaches on Her Websites

I’m sure if you’ve visited any of my websites or social media profiles, you’ve noticed a great deal of imagery dealing with water and tropical beach scenes.

There is a reason.

And it’s not just that I love the ocean or tropical beaches. I do love those.

I love dolphins too! But that’s a story for another time.

There are numerous reasons for choosing tropical beach scenes to represent me and my business.

It has to do with stress relief!

I can’t think of anything more relaxing than:

  • beautiful turquoise seas,
  • white sandy beaches,
  • palm trees,
  • you and your friends kicking back sipping mai tai’s or some other exotic drink.

Life is good.

There is no stress.

Having me on board your personal yacht (business), making sure things are being taken care of properly, lets you relax and enjoy running the rest of your business as only you can. It’s like enjoying your relaxing time at the beach. You can be confident that your online presence is being handled.

Without me, the best case scenario has you spending countless hours and dollars lost in a little raft (your website) in the middle of the ocean (the internet) with no shore in sight. Worst case you are being eaten alive by sharks. That would be your competition that has a clue about internet marketing.

You can hang out at the beach letting me assist you in handling all the details of running a successful on-line business.

Or you can go it alone.

The choice is yours!

Have a fabulous day,

Online Business Success SEO Web Design Marketing PR Local Search

The Good Old Days

In the not so distant past, online business success could happen with a nice sign out front, a small ad in the local paper or yellow pages, and maybe an actual mailed advertisement every now and then. Believe it or not, you could run your entire business without a computer.

Wow, how times have changed!

You Are Now Living in the Digital Information Age

People under 30 don’t subscribe to newspapers anymore. Why look something up in the yellow pages, when you can go online or search for something on your iPhone? Why listen to the radio and all their disruptive ads when you can get commercial free satellite radio listening to only the type of music you enjoy most?

A recent study indicates that 79% of English-speaking American adults use the internet. The iPad sold over 2 million units in its first 60 days. There are 6.7 billion people on the planet and 61% of them have a cell phone subscription.

106 million people have Twitter accounts. Every day another 300,000 people sign up for Twitter. 37% of Tweets (messages posted on Twitter) are sent from a cell phone.

Facebook has over 400 million active users. That’s active users. Over 50% of those active users log in on any given day.

With the addition of social media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, LinkedIn), the internet has changed dramatically.

A Website for Your Business Isn’t Enough

Even having a website isn’t enough to be successful in today’s competitive marketplace. With eBay and Amazon selling everything from used books to health food,  it takes more than putting up a nice website to keep your company competitive.

Having a Web site and Having Online Business Success is a Lot Like Writing a Book

An author takes about 6 months to 2 years to write a book. Then they spend the rest of their life promoting it. Having an online presence is a very similar endeavor. It’s not enough to have a great looking website. It takes smart and consistent work with a website or blog and multiple social media profiles to have people find your business among the 234 million websites out there.

Being on the First Page of Google Matters

When a person types in words in a search box to find your website or blog, it matters where you show up in the results.

I wish I could remember who said this in order to give due credit. But, I’ve been on-line for 10 years and I’ve read thousands of articles, books, and blogs on internet marketing. The best comment about where you want your internet business to be was this: Would you rather have your business out in a corn field or downtown Manhattan?

Just putting up a website and doing no promotion is like sticking it out in the middle of a corn field. No one is going to find you. You’ll be paying for hosting, a web designer,  a domain name, and a whole bunch of other services and it won’t get you even one web visitor.

Working with someone like myself, an online business success consultant who specializes in social media management and marketing, is what you need to get your business on the first page of Google and other search engines.  That’s the equivalent of putting your business downtown Manhattan. If you sell real estate in Birmingham, when someone is searching for Birmingham Real Estate, if you don’t show up on page 1 of Google results, no one is going to visit your website. You might as well not even have one.

You can use pay per click advertising and get listed above your competitors. But that can get very expensive very quickly.

Being on the Internet is a Bit Like Being on Mars

It’s a very different world than your brick and mortar business on main street. It has its own language.  It is continuously changing. And to win the internet game, you have to learn and master every aspect of it even as it’s changing.

Anyone can throw up a website or blog. To be successful on the web, you have to do significantly more, And every step and component counts.

Why Hire an Online Business Success Consultant?

An Online Business Success Consultant is a person that already knows the internet inside and out. They have ample experience with traditional websites, blogs, social media, search engine optimization (SEO), and much more. You can read about the important aspects of an internet business here.

  • doing advanced keyword research to find out what people are searching who might be looking for you and your products or services,
  • helping you choose the best domain name for your site or blog,
  • recommending web designers, web hosts, domain registrars, autoresponder services,  social media sites, and other services,
  • picking topics for articles, press releases, blog, and social media posts to rank well on search engines and get targetted visitors to your site,
  • helping you determine if you need to get into mobile websites and text message advertising,
  • ensuring that your site(s) and media profiles stay updated with fresh content,

There’s more of course.
