Japanese Devestation ~ Is Mother Nature Sending a Message?

For months I’ve followed the events of a group of Environmental Activists in a small village in northern Japan. They are connected to the movie, The Cove, about the dolphin slaughter that goes on there day after day.

A group of villagers force a pod of dolphins into the cove and then kill them. It is heartwrenching. I’ve not been able to force myself to watch the movie. I’ve seen some interviews and video clips, but no drawn out footage of dolphins being killed and blood everywhere. I just can’t watch that.

I received word today that the people at the cove, who call themselves The Cove Guardians, are all O.K. after the earthquake and tsunami. They lost their cars and are hungry and cold. But they all survived.

So did the cove area. But not the dolphins. At least 24 that were trapped in Taiji in a sea pen have died.

This is a very moving article by one of the Cove Guardians. He describes what it was like to be there during the time of the earthquake: http://www.seashepherd.org/news-and-media/news-110312-2.html

Sea Shepherd is also out there sometimes blocking the whaling fleets.
